to bloom or not

The park behind my house is filled with thought balloons.  Spring arrives early down here and the park is poised to bloom.  Thousands of buds are wondering:  Is it worth it?  Should I flower another season?

They know about the brown and withering end.  But the buds are dreamy, like a father waking on the third day of a well-deserved vacation.  Soon they will shake off the dew and face the music.

I know they'll decide to bloom.  They always do.  It's too much fun being colorful.  And there is pollen to share.
