balmy

For years, I shaved using Edge Shaving Gel and Clinique Post-Shave Healer.  Then I was taken by an advertisement for Nivea After Shave Balm.  Like the guys in the ad, I shave topless so that I can sneak glances at my "six-pack."  I can no longer remember why I keep beer in my bathroom, but there you have it.  The Nivea men are obviously scarfing up fine women while they beat the S+P during a recession so I bought some of their balm.  I should add here that the Nivea is about 1/3 as costly as Clinique which, by my math, makes Clinique five times more expensive than Nivea.  I'll discuss my math aptitude in subsequent entries.

The Nivea bottle has a modern, yet rugged, shape.  I read the print on the bottle which advised:  "For best results, shave with Nivea For Men Sensitive Shaving Gel."  It warmed my heart to know that the good people of Nivea were so concerned with the health and appearance of my face that they gave me recommendations aimed only (I thought) at "best results."  So I purchased the Nivea Shaving Gel and put it in the cabinet next to the balm.

My work took me out of town so I packed a kit that included both the Nivea balm and the shaving gel.  When I unpacked the shaving gel at the end of my journey and tried to use it, none would come out.  The Nivea cannister has an advanced delivery system; so advanced, in fact, that the gel refuses to leave the can, presumably owing to travel fatigue.

So now I'm back to Edge gel and I'm thinking that maybe the Balm Division of Nivea is in cahoots with the Shaving Gel Division to, get this, increase sales of their agoraphobic gel!

I wonder if I should really discontinue use if signs of irritation or rash appear.
